Produced at the Ford plant in Cologne-Niehl from 1953 to 1965, the Ford FK 1000 was Ford's rival on the van market at the time. competitor to the top dog on the van market at the time, the VW T1, better known as the VW Bulli. The 1000 in the model designation stood for 1000 kilograms of payload. Equipped with the 1.2-liter in-line four-cylinder engine of the Ford 12M, the FK1000 was the top performer in comparison to its competitors, the VW T1 (25 hp), the Tempo Matador 1000 (26 hp) and the DKW fast truck with only 22 hp. The Schuco metal model in 1:43 scale now appears in the version as a Vespa service vehicle and delivered together with a GS and a Vespa mechanic.
