The agricultural trailer has been produced since 1969 in the VEB motor vehicle factory »Ernst Grube« Werdau. The abbreviation HW80.11 stands for the two-way tipper body, identical in construction to the HL 80 trailer with road tires. The HW80 was the standard trailer for transporting grain, manure or building materials. The upper side walls could be dismantled within a very short time and the trailer could be adapted to the intended use. From 1984, production was relocated from Werdau to Oranienburg as part of the centrally controlled reorganization of the Grube works. Trailers of this type are still in widespread use today and there are a number of manufacturers offering farm bodies for the HW80 chassis and refurbishing existing trailers.
