In the past Marklin and Trix have been very secretive about new items right up to the opening of the February Toy Fair (despite the inevitable leaks each year!). All-in-all it looks like a great new items program for both brands with some special pieces such as the Marklin BR 23 steam locomotive and the new mega starter set with THREE full trains, including the new rail bus. The HO starter sets for 2009 all see new controllers, either a completely redesigned mobile station or a simpler wireless controller in the smaller sets. Z scale fans will be happy to see a slightly increased number of new items from 2008 including a double swiss Crocodile set for the 150th anniversary of Marklin. N-scale modelers finally get a digital version of the K.Bay.Sts.B. class BB II 0-4-4-0 steam locomotive from Minitrix and HO Trix fans get their own version of the class 23 steamer.
