The locomotive of the DB for the heavy express train service. The 01 was the first serial standard steam locomotive with the axle arrangement 2C1 (Pacific locomotives). The 01s were built from 1925 to 1938, and in the early 1950s the Wagner wind deflectors were replaced by the Witte type. Between 1957 and 1961 some locomotives were given new boilers.
