Prototype:
The success story of the E 44 series began in 1930 with the pre-series locomotive E 44 001 built by Siemens-Schuckertwerke. This was followed in 1932 by the first series of electric locomotives without axles with single-axle drive in Germany. The PIKO E 44 is also a success story. As part of this project, the well-known pre-production locomotive E 44 001, later 144 001-5, was implemented for the first time as a large-scale production model.
The miniatures of the pre- as well as the series locomotives shine with their exact scale implementation. Equally sharp and precise engravings on the case provide enormous sculptural depth and underline the excellent overall impression. This is also continued in the chassis area with numerous extra parts attached to the striking bogies. Identical in model quality, the differences between the prototype locomotives were nevertheless implemented in the model in the greatest possible detail. The model also leaves nothing to be desired technically: The drive is both proven and robust, and a PluX22 interface makes it easy to retrofit a digital decoder. In this constellation, for example, it is possible to switch engine room and driver's cab lighting
