The infrared speed controller can be used to control DC or AC locomotives on conventional model railway layouts, without the hassle of a cable connection to the control panel. The system consists of the IRIS infrared remote control and a receiver.
Each IRIS remote control has four transmission channels. Each receiver can be set to respond to each channel or only to a specific channel. This makes it possible to control four different circuits independently of each other via four receivers with an IRIS remote control.
The IRIS remote control can be used to change the direction of travel and the speed of the locomotives. The speed can be continuously increased or decreased at the touch of a button or directly selected via 10 different gears. The step size of the speed control can be adjusted. At the touch of a button, a
shunting gear, with which the locomotive can be controlled in particularly fine steps up to half the final speed. This allows slow shunting to be carried out even more precisely.
The infrared speed controller provides a starting and braking delay, for which four different deceleration values can be selected.
The stop button on the remote control switches off the traction voltage and stops the locomotive without delay.
For normal operation, a 14-16 V transformer with 2 A is sufficient.
The infrared speed controller is the locomotive control for all dedicated model railroaders.
