Motor draisine Klv 12, DB, Ep.3, operating no. 12-4909
Translated Description from LENZ:
Klv12- the role model
From the late 1950s to the mid-1960s, the Deutsche Bundesbahn purchased around 800 motorized handcars for the railway maintenance departments. They brought up to 6 people and around half a ton of material to the construction sites along the route and were used for control drives. An air-cooled VW industrial engine with 28 hp (similar to the Beetle engine) served as the drive, which, in conjunction with the 4-speed manual transmission, provided speeds of up to 70 km/h. To turn, the draisine is raised manually (crank!) with a built-in mechanism and rotated on the track.
