The low-sided car of the K.W.St.E was called gravel cars. In 1863, 75 gravel cars with two platforms were purchased.
These turned out to be extremely durable. In 1911 there were still 72 in service and 580 units of the later series which were purchased from 1869 onwards. Both construction types were still being used in working trains long into the Reichsbahn period. The train locomotives were often class T 3 locomotives, but sometimes even older freight train locomotives of the classes F and Fc were used.
