The company first started in 1866 under the name Remy and Reifenrath in Herborn and manufactured iron constructions as well as agricultural equipment and
Machines - constructed and designed by Reifenrath. As early as 1882, the company owned two steamrollers for road construction and agricultural equipment that was lent to neighboring communities. In 1923, Strasenbau-Actien-Gesellschaft Niederlahnstein (Busch Automodellen press release February 2022 page: 6 Strabag for short) was founded. Just six years later, the company employed around 1,400 people and soon relocated its headquarters to Cologne. Today, Strabag is active throughout Europe and also has major projects in other countries.
