Where does the parcel go??? The DPD's white delivery van is on the motorway with it and takes it to the next distribution point. DPD (Deutscher Paketdienst) was founded in 1976 by 18 leading German freight forwarders. Among the founding members were the Honold Logistik Gruppe, Hellmann (Osnabrück), Zufall (Göttingen), Streck Transport (Lörrach), Cordes & Simon (Hagen), TTF (Flensburg), Denkhaus (Koblen) and Zeitfracht (Berlin). In the year of its founding, a considerable number of 1.4 million parcels were booked in Germany, which increased to 2.5 million parcels per day over the years up to 2006. In 1999, the French postal company La Poste acquired 83.32% of DPD's parcel service and incorporated the transport company into its subsidiary Geopost. The proven and well-known name DPD was retained and individual state-specific branches of Geopost were expanded.
