On 17.7.1965, the first W50 truck rolled off the production hall in Ludwigsfelde. In 2025, 60 years of the W50 will therefore be celebrated. And since this truck is the absolute favourite in the Espewe range, this anniversary will be celebrated with two special models as special anniversary versions. Both the 25,000th W50 delivered to the USSR and the 350,000th W50 to roll off the production line in total will be specially decorated as model versions. In addition, there will also be further versions of the very popular fertiliser litter body, which celebrated its model premiere last year, on the chassis of the W50 and L60 and will complement existing series, such as the LPG Red October. The W50 was designed in over 70 basic variants with different bodies. The W50L MK furniture box vehicle was used for use on long distances and for the transport of furniture and bulky or large-volume goods. Vehicles with extended cabs were used on tours where additional accompanying personnel were necessary, such as when transporting furniture. A typical truck combination for transporting furniture included the W50L MK and the matching furniture trailer of the HL70/80 series. In addition to flatbed vehicles, VEB Handelstransport also used many box vehicles.
