In addition to our LGB stand, there was another highlight to admire at the hobby fair in Leipzig. The prototype of the SOEG steam locomotive VII K 99 731 (item no. LGB 21482) was painted live on Sunday afternoon by the artist Michael Fischer. We at LGB will also be realizing this newly designed locomotive in the artist's design in the model (see above) in a strictly limited number of pieces with certificate of authenticity. The artist also designs the right side of the locomotive, a colorful historical document at LGB. This is because the prototype will later be restored to its original condition.
Road Number 99 731 has been in use in the DRG version for a long time on the Zittau Narrow Gauge Railroad. In contrast to the other locomotives, this unit was returned to its Era II look by the employees of the SOEG, and it runs mainly pulling the German State Railroad train. A highlight on the Zittau Narrow Gauge Railroad is the annual major event „Historik Mobil“ / "Travelling History", on the occasion of which road number 99 731 was also in use in the light gray photo paint scheme. It was thus the centerpiece of the event, and it was remembered for a long time by many railroad fans.
