Novelty 2026: The legendary T455.0 shunting diesel locomotives stand for robust simplicity, high reliability, and versatile use in shunting and light freight operations. Since the 1950s/1960s, these four-stroke diesel locomotives have not only shaped operations in Hungary, but – in exported variants – also found their place in Czechoslovakia and on Czech industrial railways. The design is a classic four-axle configuration (B’B’) that provides shunting personnel with excellent visibility of the track. This combination of compact construction, simple electrical systems, and easy access to inspection openings made the locomotives particularly popular for industrial use. In Czechoslovakian service, the locomotives were flexibly used for shunting and lighter line duties whenever robust, straightforward performance was required. The simple construction facilitated maintenance and repairs in the workshops of the ?SD and later the ?D, as well as for industrial operators.
