For the newly created TEE traffic the Swiss SBB and the Dutch NS agreed to cooperate in building five diesel-electric powered rail car trains. These powered rail car trains consisted of a power end car, two intermediate cars � including a half dining car - and a cab control car without a propulsion system. The SBB gave the trains the designations: RAm 501 and502, while the NS called them DE IV 1001 to 1003. All five trains were stationed in Zurich. The powered rail car trains painted in the typical TEE colors, red and beige, were used in a joint five-day schedule, passingthrough six countries: Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. It was also possible to reach Munich from Zurich on board the TEE Bavaria.The Roco model is a completely new construction built exactly to the scale of 1:87. The engineer�s cab and the machine room were equipped with reproductionsof the interior fittings. The intermediate and control cars built to scale were fitted out accordingly and are prepared for interior lights. The headlight generated by a warm-white LED changes with the train�sdirection, both in the power end car and in the control car. The powered rail car train is connected by means of a special conductive coupler; current pick-up is always effected by the part located at the frontin the direction in which the train is traveling. The biggest highlight is the pithy, full-bodied sound of this electric propulsion system, which used to announce the arrival of the TEE powered rail car train prototype when it was still a long way away. This sound function is also to be heard in analog mode. Furthermore, in digital mode there are more than 12 other soundfunctions, such as a two-tone horn, auxiliary motor and screeching brakes.
