The SSy55 heavy-duty flat car was a post-war purchase by the U.S. Army Transportation Corps (USATC) around 1955. These wagons were built for the American troops stationed in Germany and were later incorporated into the rolling stock of the Deutsche Bundesbahn and the Bundeswehr.
