The Swiss Federal Railways procured the type M5/Ks-w stake wagons, later designated Ks 330, from 1959 to 1970 in seven construction lots. Stake wagons are primarily intended for the transport of bulky goods. These include, for example, steel, wood, large machines and motor vehicles as well as prefabricated parts and heavy individual loads. They are also used to transport soil and gravel.
