The Thunderbox Coaches owe their name to the fact that in these cars for the first time an all-metal construction was used. Before that, the wagon superstructures had always been designed as wooden construction. The metal construction led to a much higher noise level, which earned them the name of Donnerbüchsen. The development and production started in the 20's.
